The Diary of a Teenage Girl
2015
A beautiful, although at times painful film to watch. A true coming of age story without the sugar coating, and with all the brokenness of being a teenager in another time. Not a popcorn movie, but one that definitely rewards careful watching.
After you watch it, listen to the Scriptnotes episode with its director and screenwriter, the brilliant Marielle Heller. http://johnaugust.com/2015/diary-of-a-first-time-director
