Hurts So Good: The Science and Culture of Pain on Purpose

Leigh Cowart

Leigh understands pain. Not just on a scientific or historical level, but on a personal one as well. They write about it so beautifully and so viscerally throughout this book.

I read [b:Hurts So Good: The Science and Culture of Pain on Purpose|56644004|Hurts So Good The Science and Culture of Pain on Purpose|Leigh Cowart|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1617718384l/56644004._SY75_.jpg|69266410] in less than a week and couldn’t put it down. As someone who plays with pain in a few areas of their life like the author, it was fascinating to see the various ways people have used pain on purpose throughout history. There are scenes from this book I will forever think of when giving or receiving consensual pain.

If you’re someone who is in pain, enjoys pain, fears pain, or just wants to understand it better, read this. It won’t hurt, I promise.
